The sound of jackhammers filled the air at the county complex Monday as officials continued their search for the source of a mysterious odor that has chased some workers from their offices for two weeks straight.
Public works personnel and those from a private firm spent much of the day trying to excavate a little- used underground diesel fuel storage tank on the north side of the complex just off Route 67. At the same time, crews on the south side of the office facility cleaned out and began to remove another old - and previously forgotten - storage tank located next to the county clerk's office on McMaster Street.
