Fed: venues must insist on responsible bouncers - union

A union says nightclubs, pubs and entertainment venues must take more responsibility
for the quality of their bouncers.

Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers' Union spokesman TERRY BREHENY says
security workers and their union are concerned that current proposals are too easy on
the venues.

Tougher regulations for the security industry are due to go before the Victorian parliament soon.

And federal Treasurer PETER COSTELLO has called for a three-strikes-and-you're-out policy.

The issue came to a head last month when Victorian cricket coach DAVID HOOKES was killed
in outside a St Kilda hotel last month.

Mr BREHENY says his union's also backing a harsher policy to ensure venues take a more
responsible stance employing bouncers.
